I have covered several drives here in the past and to be fair some of these are quite the kit with James Bond ringing about them and this one is no different but it has a trick up its sleeve compared to others when it comes to the tech aspect.

How can I recover a lost, damaged or corrupted PowerPoint file? Can SecureRecovery for PowerPoint deliver results?

SecureRecovery for PowerPoint is an advanced utility for repairing PowerPoint presentations. It can safely restore most PowerPoints within minutes, and we offer a free demo version to help you decide whether to buy a license. We recommend using this demo to evaluate your options.

Remember to back up any corrupted presentations prior to your recovery attempt

I have downloaded the demo version of the program. How is this version different from the fully licensed version?

The demo will only be able to recover certain data items on your presentation slides, and it will replace all additional pages with placeholder text. Slides, pictures, formatting and other elements may also be replaced with placeholders.

The fully licensed version of the program does not have these placeholders, and it will recover your presentations without inputting any demo text. However, the demo output is highly accurate, and if an element does not appear at all in the demo, it will not be recoverable with the full version. You can therefore accurately determine recoverability by running the free demo.

Will SecureRecovery for PowerPoint maintain my formatting and other elements of my presentation?

Yes, in most cases. If you have extremely large or complex presentations, we highly recommend running the demo to make sure.

My recovered PowerPoint presentations are smaller than they were before the recovery attempt. Is this a problem?

In most cases, this is not a problem. PowerPoint presentations are often inaccessible due to corruption and bad areas, which our software replaces with free space. This can reduce the size of the file. A lower file size does not necessarily mean that the PowerPoint presentation is missing important data.

The demo version also outputs smaller-than-normal presentations. This is because the software replaces many elements with placeholders.

How do the product licensing options differ from one another?

Read our Licensing page to learn about the differences between the options listed on this page.

I have PowerPoint 2003 installed on my computer. When I attempt to install SecureRecovery for PowerPoint, the installation is aborted and I am presented with an error message that reads, “The required component is missing.” How can I fix this?

This is a common issue, and it sometimes requires dedicated attention from specialists. First, try to access the presentation on another computer that has PowerPoint installed.

If this does not work, contact our technical team. They may need to access your file and repair it manually. Please also include your diagnostic file (create this report by clicking the option when starting the installation of SecureRecovery for PowerPoint on the affected computer).

When I process a corrupted presentation with SecureRecovery for PowerPoint, an error message appears that reads “ActiveX component cannot create an object.” What is the solution to this problem?

The easiest and fastest way to bypass this issue is to restore the corrupted presentation on another computer. Before installing SecureRecovery for PowerPoint, make sure that Microsoft PowerPoint is already installed.

What commands can I use when running SecureRecovery for PowerPoint from the command line? Can I create batch files?

Yes, but these features are only available for Enterprise and Service license holders. Use this command line call to access the program:

ppr.exe “”

Do not use angle brackets, and use the characters ‘*’ and ‘?’ to create patterns for groups of characters and single characters (respectively). Check to make sure that you have created the output directory for the recovered files before running SecureRecovery for PowerPoint from the command line.
