I have covered several drives here in the past and to be fair some of these are quite the kit with James Bond ringing about them and this one is no different but it has a trick up its sleeve compared to others when it comes to the tech aspect.

SharePoint Database File Recovery

If my SharePoint database is inaccessible or corrupted, will SecureRecovery for Sharepoint be able to restore it completely?

The demo version of SecureRecovery for Sharepoint will let you analyze your database to find out whether or not a recovery is possible. However, we designed SecureRecovery for Sharepoint with an extremely capable feature set, and it can safely treat most SharePoint databases.

I would like to download the free demo of SecureRecovery for Sharepoint. What should I know about the demo?

While the full version of SecureRecovery for Sharepoint can recover all of the documents in a SharePoint database, the demo version is much more limited.

You will not be able to access the actual contents of stored files. Instead, you will see file names, and when you attempt to open a file, you will see placeholder text. Our software uses this placeholder text to indicate that a file is recoverable.

Whether you are running the demo version or full version, we recommend making a backup of your SharePoint database prior to the attempt.

What are the major differences between the software license options on the top of this page?

Some advanced features are unavailable with the Standard licenses. For a full explanation of our licenses, please visit our Licensing web page.

SecureRecovery for Sharepoint attempted a recovery of my damaged database, then created a folder with XML file(s). How do I bring these files into a new SharePoint database?

Take the following steps to restore your documents to your SharePoint database.

First, create a new “blank site” collection in the SharePoint administrator panel. Next, you will need to use the command line utility stsadmn to import site data into the new project. The template of a newly created site should be identical to the name of the site that you are attempting to import.

Consult your SharePoint documentation if you have any issues with this process.

Why do my original SharePoint database and my recovered database have different file sizes?

File size differences are normal and are related to the process that SecureRecovery for Sharepoint uses to treat badly damaged areas. Some of the stored documents may be skipped, which can reduce the overall size of the database.

If you are operating the demo version of the software, the file size may appear even smaller, since the demo uses small placeholders to represent recoverable documents.

How can I run this application through my command line?

First, please note that you can only access SecureRecovery for Sharepoint through your command line (and through batch file) with an Enterprise or a Service license.

The command line call is as follows:

spr.exe “”

The patterns ‘*’ (for groups of symbols) and ‘?’ (for a single symbol) are recognized in this mode. Do not use angle brackets, and make sure to create the appropriate directory for the recovered SharePoint databases.
